In The Demon’s Head: 100 Editions Later

Hello everyone and welcome to edition 100 of In The Demon’s Head. When I first sat down to write this blog. I had no idea what in the hell I was doing. Actually that’s an understatement. When I wrote the first edition back in February of last year, I didn’t even know WHY the hell I was doing this.

Originally the blog began as my way of trying to show fellow writers new things. I quickly learned that I didn’t really know shit of my own. How was it that I was supposed to show people things, when I didn’t even know anything? The blog was aimed to be more than that though. I had meant to take this chance to share my talents with the world. I realized real quick that this idea wasn’t working very well.

Let’s review real quick here. I started writing this blog with two screwed up ideas and the end goal of promoting my first book that I planned on releasing later that year. If you’ve followed me from the beginning than you realize that the idea wasn’t a complete flop but it wasn’t a huge hit either.

I did manage to put both stories out and the thoughts on them have been awesome. The views for this blog have not really gone as far as I would have liked. But I kept writing. I knew that it would eventually find a way to pay off. In the time since though, this blog has changed.

What started then has evolved into what you see now. As I’m sure you’ve noticed how I’ve been doing Photo-blogging pieces. I hope that you have enjoyed them. I intend to keep them coming and I hope that you keep sharing.

But that’s not all I intend to do with this blog. Not hardly. While the idea may be few and far between I do intend to continue to offer some updates on what’s going on with me and my writing through this blog. However, my primary method of information seems to be Facebook.

Looking back at these past 100 editions of “In The Demon’s Head” have made me realize that I’ve done a lot of learning, writing, growing up, and studying. It’s all a part of the world you have to know if you’re going to make it anywhere in life.

Something that I feel I should share with you guys. This blog has kind of evolved into a home for the photo-blogging stuff. But don’t fear I will still have post like this where I share some information about the projects that I have going on. That’s kind of what the end of this post is about.

Now enough of the retrospective, I’ve got some information that you may find enjoyable. Then there’s a bit of information that isn’t so nice and that’s what I’ll start with.

Youtube Channel Operations Suspended

It wasn’t Youtube’s fault. I can easily say that I’m a fickle little bastard. I don’t say that in a bad way. I have learned that I tend to have a problem committing. Which is why I’m so surprised that this blog has lived this long.

As I sat down to record the first thing to put up on the channel Monday. I realized that while the idea sounded good it would take away a lot of time that I could use writing. If I can get to a point where it’s just a camera and not a lot of extra work to get the channel to work for me, then it can happen. Until then I really need to focus on writing. Especially if I’m going to be able to deliver on mI’y next promise.

All Five Blackout Series books will be available by 2013!

That’s a massive promise to make considering that it’s already halfway through April and I’m just gearing up for #2.  I don’t want to make promises on dates due to a few things but I am going to say that the goal is aimed at putting out a new story every couple months.

My goal is for the fifth and final Blackout Story to be available in December. I think it’s a goal that should I strive to achieve can happen. If you haven’t done it yet you can pick up the first Blackout story “Life After Dark” for free here. I’d love a review if you have already read the book.

New Graphic Designer

As a lot of people know, I’m not big on the religion thing. However, I can say that I believe in things happening or changing for a reason. That happened this past week when by sheer accident I realized that I had a very talented graphic designer sitting amongst my friends.

His name is Mr. Dave Schuey. I’ve known him for some time but had no idea of his talents. I can only hope that he is up for the coming schedule. I can’t wait to show you the work that he can do.

Final Thoughts

That’s 100 editions of “In The Demon’s Head” in the books. If I have my way there will be many, many more to come. I hope that you guys are ready as I’m hoping to continue to change the literary landscape and I can hope that you all will come along for the ride.

When I discovered that I was a writer ahead of my classmates back in the 4th grade I would have never expected the journey to take me the way it has. I don’t say that to toot my own horn. In fact it was my 4th grade teacher Mrs. Seivers (I think that’s how her name is spelt) that made me realize that I could write.

In the years that have followed I have learned that my writing has changed. It’s evolved and grew. Surprisingly enough so have I. A huge step in that evolution as a writer came when I started this blog last February. I have to say that I’m mildly surprised that I’ve managed to keep life in this blog over the last year. While inconsistent posting sure, there have been new posts at least once a month.

I look back at the first five or six of these that I did and I realized that I gave a general warning in each of them. Basically it was that there may be some things or words said in these post that offend people. I had really thought that my writing style for this blog would be much like I talked in real life. This included a lot of words that may offend some including to but not limited to Fuck.

I don’t say these things just for shock value. I also don’t say them because I have limited vocabulary. I use these words because that’s just the type of person that I am. I realized that it wasn’t conveyed in the writing of this blog. That I hadn’t stayed true to myself mainly because I wanted everyone to enjoy what I was doing here. I still hope that you do like what I do but don’t be surprised if I say a few colorful things that some one else may not write for fear of being looked at differently.

Now I’ve got a few interesting tidbits to share with you today so scroll on down I hope you’ll enjoy some of the new, or kinda new things, that I’m coming up with here.

Reintroducing Photoblogging

As I’m sure a lot of you are aware. Last month I lost my job. While this does suck, I have to say that it has opened a lot of new doors. The best is that it has opened the ability to write a lot more. While I can’t make tons of promises about where I will end up going with my writing in the next year, I can promise that Photoblogging will return.

I won’t be doing it five days a week. I think that’s a bit over the top and a lot of extra work, especially if I want to get other writing done. But I will be doing it 3 days a week. Monday/Wednesday/Friday; before I said I would feature them on Wattpad, but I think I’d rather just leave them an “In The Demon’s Head” exclusive.

From The 35th Floor Now Available

March’s free writing “From The 35th Floor” is now available on Wattpad. I’m in talks with a friend who is developing a cover for it. If you haven’t checked it out yet click this link and you’ll see a piece that I’m extremely proud of. I’d love your feedback and comments on the piece.

Final Thoughts 

I’m going to start trying to do a blog post twice a week. It may be about what’s going on with my writing. It may be about something else entirely. I’m not really sure but I’m hoping that you enjoy it going forward. As always I welcome your comments, emails and anything else. I’m a very sociable guy and would love to talk to you.

On a side note, I’m going to start looking into something that I haven’t really seen anyone else use yet. If I can figure it out then I think that it will be a revolution in the way books are marketed and sold. I know that’s a bold statement but I think it could be that massive.

In The Demon’s Head # 87: When The Daylight Grows

Hello guys how are things are your end of the computer screen. This is the first blog post that I’ve written in almost a month. Not so much because I don’t have a lot going on. (There’s that too in honesty) but more so because I’ve been really busy with everything from working on my writing with school to a few other projects. I can say though that there will likely be a lot more of these blog post coming. I’ll explain that shortly.

More Blog Post Coming

A lot of people who read this post are fans of my Facebook and Twitter accounts and if you’ve been following that then it’s likely that you’ve heard that I’ve lost my full time job as a member of the Missouri Veterans Home. I don’t want to go into a lot of details for why I was fired or why because quite frankly it’s in the past. However, it does open a new door to me.

That door is that a lot more of my time can be spent on my writing and publishing some of my work. This means that I can focus full time on my writing. Part of that time will be spent writing more blog post. I am hoping to going back to 2-3 post a week. We’ll have to see what happens between and I won’t make promises but I’m hoping that is one way that it goes.

Email List

I’ve spent a lot of time reading and learning in the last few weeks. One of the major points that I’ve taken away from all that reading was that an Email list is as beneficial to me as a Facebook Page. What I’m hoping is that I can launch an email list within the next couple of weeks I think that it will be majorly beneficial moving forward.  I’ll keep you updated as things near that point.

More New Ideas

Sometimes it amazes me that I manage to derive ideas the way I do. I’ve literally found my last three ideas while eating or sleeping. It’s kind of surprising to me that things can come to me the way they do. I’m not going to complain though and I can’t wait to get a few of them on paper. I think the new short story idea, as well as the new novel ideas will all pipe your interest.

The Blackout Series

I know that there are quite a few people who have downloaded the Blackout Series’ inaugural title “Life After Dark” and I’m happy to announce that the next story in the series will be available right around the corner.

I don’t want to give away too much yet but I’m hoping that it will be available and ready for your reading by the end of April.

In The Demon’s Head #86: Hospitals Smell Like Death

Hello everyone and happy beginning of March to you. You know what that means? March Madness, no I’m not talking about the basketball tourney. I don’t care about that personally but I do care about the spin off ideas that seem to pop up of 64 participate tournaments of different styles. Those are something to look forward to.

I’ve been promising this post for a couple of days now and there’s a reason that I haven’t delivered like I normally do. The reason is that I’ve been in the hospital for the last couple of days. I had an accident at work and fell hitting my head and is lead to me being diagnosed with a mild concussion this morning. In short that’s why this post was promised and ended up late.

Either way enough about the fact that this post was late and let’s get to what’s going on in my world.

Photoblogging Challenge Done (For Now)

When the idea of the Photoblogging Challenge was introduced to me back at the end of January by Liz I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but as I did it I have to say that it worked. I only did it for a couple of weeks and I wanted to go about doing it a different way but that idea failed.

The more I thought about the more I questioned the amount of time that I was putting in on that blogging challenge and I realized there was a number of things, that included Stories and Other things that I wanted to get done and doing that challenge every day didn’t give me the time to do that like I would have wanted.

With that said the Photoblogging Challenge is done but only for now. When the time and chance reappears I will do them again because it broadens my working spectrum and it gives me the chance to put out pieces regularly which I think is a very good thing.

So that leaves the question then what am I going to do?

Monthly Pieces Will Continue

I know I said in an earlier post that I would be eliminating the monthly Pieces. I made this decision because I thought a monthly piece on top of the Photoblogging Challenge would be redundant. Since I haven’t been able to do the photoblogging I feel that the monthly pieces will make a good fit going forward. Here as a treat I will give to those reading this, the March free Writing will be called “From the 35th Floor” and will be the first non-poetry piece that I’m writing for this free pieces. I don’t know a date yet that it will be released but it will be later this month.

“Life After Dark” Is Available NOW!

The Blackout Series launched last Wednesday to massive response from the Smashwords Crowd. I haven’t been able to release it to Amazon due to the fact that the story is Free. I was also going to put it on Wattpad but for some reason the spacing went ridiculous and it just would have been horrible to read.

I want as many people to read this book as possible so I’m asking you to take a moment and download your Free Copy of “Life After Dark” by clicking here and in the process you can also pick up my first book, “More Than Memories” for free as well.

I’m not sure when the second story will be released but I expect it to be some time around May and it will only be 99 cents. That’s for a bit later though and I promise to release more information on that story as we move toward that.

In The Demon’s Head #72:To All Who Survived The Myans

Merry Belated Christmas all and I hope that your season was filled with cheer and excitement as you spent time with the ones that you loved. I myself didn’t do a whole lot I spent some time with my Dad, Grandma and some other family as well as my wonderful Fiancé Liz. You read that right yours truly is now engaged.  I’ll talk more about this at some point in the future but for right now let’s jump into this edition of In The Demon’s Head before it becomes one of those stupid sappy Christmas letters that you really don’t want to read.

Future of The Blackout Series

Don’t be worried this isn’t an announcement that sees the Blackout Series never come to light. Quite the contrary this an announcement marking the release of the first story in the Blackout Series entitled “Life After Dark” has finished its first hard edits and I will be putting them in here within the next couple of days, shipping it off to my editor and starting on the hard edits for story 2 which is “Six Feet Under” The first story will be available directly for download from my website, through Smashwords, possibly Amazon, and WattPad. I haven’t settled on an exact date yet but unlike I previously had hoped the story will be available either Late January or Early-Mid February but I plan on no later than that.

Website Updates

I said this in my last post from earlier this month and still haven’t done it yet but I do fully intent to make one of my projects at the first of the year revamping my website. There’s two reasons for this especially now, first being that I’ve done a lot of studying about how websites should work and a good way to build an author website and while my is barebones what it should be it’s nothing like it should be and that’s a problem that I fully intend to correct at the first of the year.

Other Projects to Kick off 2013

Since we survived the Myan doomsday prophecy from December 21, 2012 it means that I can start planning for what comes heading into 2013 and I’ve established how I will fill the bulk of the first half of the year, I will be writing, revising, and preparing a novel with a yet unknown title centered around the plotline for the poem “Viral” that I released earlier this year. I’m going to take this in a different direction and try to land an agent and get the book traditionally published. I think that the plot is strong enough and as long as I can shape the characters I should have no problem.

The year is ending on a high note. I started this full time journey back in February and since I’ve done a lot of good things and I’ve taken a number of steps in the right direction so I’m very confident heading into 2013 that I will only go further in the right direction. This will likely be the last post that I publish this year but I’d like to say many thanks to everyone who has liked the stuff I’ve done so far and expect much more coming in 2013. Everyone have a Happy New Year and I’ll see you on the other side of the Ball Drop for 2013.

Hello everyone, I hope that today’s post finds you all well and good leading into the holidays that are just around the corner. I said yesterday during a Facebook post that I would be making a few major announcements today in the form of a blog post so here it goes.

Free Writings Are Set to Return This Month

It’s been a few months since I’ve done any of these. In honesty I had intended on doing one a month every month and that kind of fell apart with the launch of  “More Than Memories” and I don’t think  I’ve done a free writing in nearly four months. Well that changes this month as my free poetry writings return and maybe even a couple of short stories that haven’t made the cut into “More Than Memories” but in order to keep up with the monthly pace I expect far more poems then short stories. This month’s poem is called “The Club” and I’m expecting it to be available on December 18 pending a cover photo. This was one of the many things that I reconsidered after reading a post from Google Plus about how readers viewed me and my brand as a whole. There’s more on this subject below.

Price Reduction for More Than Memories

I know I’ve done this once before but here me out on this one, it’s not a sales gimmick or anything else, it’s legit in me lowering the price and here’s why. The same Google Plus article that I referenced above also taught me how to think about the pricing of the E-Book goes. It said in the article that you need to establish yourself   before you can expect someone to want to pay 2, 3, 4 or more dollars for your book. You need to think it from a consumer point of view and not from a what you think the book is worth standpoint and that’s exactly where I found myself once “More Than Memories” was released. I’ll be honest the book has managed to sell only one copy thus far and the more I think about it the more I think that it has to do with the price. Let’s face it unless you read this blog or visit the Facebook page, or follow me on twitter (in which case if you do any or all of these many thanks to you) then you likely have no idea who I am when it comes to buying  books of mine. Even some of those who do those things wouldn’t want to throw their money at something they’re not completely sure about and that’s why I’ve decided after much consideration that I will be charging for 1.50 for the book going forward. I think this pleases a number of parties, including those who didn’t want to pay 3 dollars and those who feel that 99 cents warrant a cheap and not very well done book. I for one hope that this will entice you to pick up a copy of the book had you been on the fence about it. Also remember that you can download a sample and read through some of the book before you buy it. The book on smashwords is available here.

New Website Is Coming

I said this sometime ago that I intended to update the website and I still haven’t ever gotten around to it but that procrastination will end shortly. I’m aiming to begin rebuilding the website within the coming weeks and have it completed by the end of the year. This is one of those timetables that I hope pans out to my advantage but we’ll have to see how work and everything goes. Regardless there will be a better designed website up in the very near future you can mark my words.

That’s about all of everything that I’ve got right now. I hope to have some more info on the website in the coming weeks and I will be sure to let you in that info when I can get it. In The Demon's Head #69: Long Time No See

Hello everyone and happy Friday. Today is the first blog post that I've put up in quite some time. I have to apologize for that but I'm back today and I've got some information on the "Blackout" series, my progress during NaNoWriMo, and this blog in general. We'll start with my current goals and thoughts on this blog.

In The Demon's Head: Looking Ahead

As I said earlier I apologize for the erratic post here lately. They haven't been posted at the same time or even on the same day. Under the same token I haven't been posting twice a week for quite some time. There are two reasons for that, the first being that the work schedule that I'm currently keeping up is not allowing me to post as frequently as I would have wanted. Second, I haven't quite had the subject matter to post twice a week. That being said I'd like to tell you what I'm hoping for in the coming weeks.

My intention is to return to posting once a week, every Friday, I'd like to bump it back up to two times a week but this will only occur once I get the work schedule and material situations figured out and this may take a few weeks at the least for that to happen. Until then I will attempt to at least make the one post a week however, I will not commit to doing two post a week again most likely until next year.

The post that you will get though will be updates on subjects that include upcoming projects, progress on current projects things of that nature. Should I receive any emails, questions or other things then it's possible that I'll share those with you as well. NaNoWriMo Progress

To anyone who has been following the Facebook Page then this may be some recycled information but if you haven't heard yet I've turned NaNoWriMo into NaShWriMo not that it makes as much sense. Basically I'm taking the month of November and attempting to finish or write a substantial number of stories in the "Blackout" series. There are 10 of them so it's likely that I won't be able to reach that goal with the other engagements that I have but I'm going to try that much I will promise you. I'd like to at least make it through 3-4 of them and that will free up enough time for me to get ready for the next projects on the agenda and set them up for publication. So far I'm just now into the second story but I feel that I can at least finish it and possibly much more should I be able to get over the sickness that I'm feeling here's to that hope coming true.

Blackout Series

Speaking of the Blackout Series there is some development in that department. With the current plans for November editing the first of the Blackout series is a highly unlikely possibility. With that said I intend to begin editing the stories the first week of December and I will gear them up hopefully for a late January/ Early February release for the first one which as I've indicated before will be free. It will be available throughout different areas including WattPad, Smashwords, Amazon and my website. Also I think I'd like to announce the first two volumes, they are "Life After Dark" and "Six Feet Under" I haven't decided on any of them after that. I thought I had three but looking back I didn't like the title of the third volume so that's gone.

New Ideas and Future Projects

So there's a couple of new ideas that have been circulating in my head here lately. One is for a novel that will likely come later rather then sooner but the other one is something that's likely to occur as early as next year. Recently I've found some mild success with my poem Viral on WattPad, if you haven't had a chance to read it yet click here. Mind you this is the first draft of that poem and the final draft is available in "More Than Memories" however a lot of recent comments and suggestions said that I should convert Viral into a story/novel and upon giving it some serious thought I may just do that. I couldn't tell you how long it will be but I think that I like the idea of taking one of my pieces and expanding on it even further so look for a Viral inspired story sometime in 2013.

In The Demon's Head #68: Right Around The Corner

Hello everyone and welcome to the first In The Demon's Head in a little over a week. Sorry I haven't been posting as consistently as I would have liked but I'm in a bit of a pickle in the way of work and having content to write about. I keep trying to find a niche for my blog that blends both my writing and offers up some helpful tips to fellow writers. Sadly, I haven't been able to do that yet.

So for the time being I'm going to devote the blog directly to my writing and I may be putting up a new post every week there will be post up when I have some good things to share with you. I'm excited for that part at least and while it isn't much I think it's something that I want to do to help you guys stay in touch with me and give you some updates on what's going on.

With that in mind I'd like to take some time today and update you on the situation with the upcoming release of "More Than Memories"

Available Markets for "More Than Memories"

If you read something on the website or the release that I put on Facebook then your ahead of the game. For those of you who haven't heard what's going on I'd like to give you the rundown:

I ran into a recent problems with ISBN numbers (ironically the one thing that I hadn't researched extensively) I knew that they were required for print books but having only worked with Amazon Kindle in the past and a long time back at that, I didn't realize that it was required that I purchase ISBN numbers for all my e-books as well. Sadly i don't have money yet to purchase ISBN numbers (which if your curious run in blocks of 10, 100, or 1000 and for only 10 with the quickest turn around is almost 400 dollars) which means that my book is not going to be available on Apple Products, Kobo, or Sony I hope to rectify this problem as quickly as possible. It will however be available on the Amazon Kindle on Tuesday and hopefully a number of other markets including Barns and Noble shortly thereafter.

This is by no means a permanent problem and I hope to have it fixed and available on all major retailers no later then the start of 2013. Until then please visit one of the above listed retailers and if possible I will also be selling a PDF style book available via my website. That's something that I have to look into yet but I hope to know something by morning.

Life After Dark Update

If your a writer then you understand what it's always like to be looking ahead to what's my next project, what's next up on the list, and that's exactly what I'm doing with "Life After Dark" In case I haven't done it yet I'd like to give you a basic rundown of what "Life After Dark" is and what it's going to be starting:

"Life After Dark" is the first story in a short story series that will be 10 stories long. The series as of yet doesn't have a title and I hope to fix that soon once "More Than Memories" starts rolling. It's a very interesting undertaking that I haven't ever tried in my life and I'm excited. Also, I'd like to add in that the first volume in the series will be free. Available in a number of retailers and outlets and each subsequent volume afterward will only be 99 cents. I'm also planning on releasing them on a every three month or so basis. It all really depends but I know that's the current plans but if something changes I will let you know for sure.
