In The Demon's Head: Promotional Techniques- Intro

In The Demon's Head #41: Promotional Techniques- Intro
July 25, 2012

Hello everyone, sorry that today's post is coming to you late. It would have been up earlier but due to the fact that I was up so late and slept so long today that became impossible. In fact as I write this now I”m still kinda surprised that I'm awake, if your a wrestling fan and you watched last night's Raw then it's very likely that you saw me sitting ramp side, it was a great night and I can't wait to go again. Let's move onto today's edition of In The Demon's Head, which is about promotional techniques.

I'm going to explain 4 very effective promotional techniques that you could use to help get the word out about your writing and begin building a fan base to establish yourself, the three of them are: Advertising, Social Media, Blogging, and a Website. If you combine these together you can begin building a platform piece by piece into something that you will definitely be proud of. I'll go in depth on each of these techniques now.

Blogging

I know it's likely that you've heard this everywhere that you need to blog. I for one never thought that I was interesting enough to warrant a blog, I figured my post would be somewhat boring and repetitive however, I've been lucky enough to develop a blogging schedule that both fits my schedule and is easy to maintain. Blogging is something that I believe every writer should do because it helps keep their name out there.

Advertising

If your like me then you want to just skip the advertising because money is tight and trust me I completely understand that. However, if your smart about where and how you advertise your dollars will go a lot further and warrant greater results. Being selective is the key to advertising but the rewards that you can warrant for advertising can definetly outweigh the amount of money that you may have to spend.

Social Media

In today's day and age this is one of the two biggie's that are required for you build a platform. Social Media has managed to grab the most attention of everything, from Facebook to Youtube, Twitter to the new Tout, there are numerous amounts of social media websites that you can use as a jumping off point to help build your platforms.

Websites

This is the second of the two biggies that you need in order to help yourself launch a platform. This was also something that I waited so long to build because I wasn't sure if I'd have enough stuff to update the website on a regular enough basis but I learned that a website isn't so much about the updating constantly as it is that you have the presence of a website. If you can find a way to add new material to it daily then that's wonderful but I'm finding I'm updating mine usually more on a every other day ratio.

In Conclusion...

I know some of these seem like rather bland descriptions of promotional techniques but fear not. This post will be the start of a series educating you about the promotional techniques that you can use to help begin to build your platform and launch your career into a new level. In fact it's the first of 3 blogging series that I have planned through the remainder of the year. This first one will feature the promotional techniques, the second will center around story creation, and the third and final one will be my biggest is centered around Platform Building. Be sure to return for the next five days as I highlight the entire Promotional Technique Series.

In fact leading into the promotional techniques I'd love you to share your stories about how you went about promoting yourself and your work. You can share those stories in the comments section below.

You can find more information about me, the free writings I've released, the updated progress on “More Than Memories”, updated tout videos, and all my social media channels is all available on my website here.

Until the next time you want to take a trip through the gates of hell and into the demon's head, I'm Kyle Robinson wishing you a safe trip back to the surface.
