Behind Closed Doors

In The Demon's Head #114: Behind Closed Doors

May 17, 2013

It's Friday, the work week will be coming to a close for some, and for others, the weekend doesn't meet shit. This week though I've managed to do a lot of reading and learning, it's one thing I love about the writing business. It's a business where you can never stop learning, and improving. I hope that you guys have enjoyed this weeks' post. I enjoy doing these a lot more now than I did at the start and I look forward to giving you more. Enough of that though, let's move onto the picture:

Behind Closed Doors
I've been here for I don't know how long,
I was taken from a garage by work,
And now,
I haven't seen anything but the inside of this room,
Since I don't know when,
It could be days,
It could be weeks,
I don't know,
Because when he comes in,
He hits me,
And I'm out,
I could have been out days,
I don't know what he does,
But I know there are welps on my back,
They hurt,
There are tears on my clothes,
I always know he's coming,
Because he opens a small part of the door,
And laughs,
It's the stuff nightmares are made of,
And you always only think,
It won't be me,
But I wasn't able to get away,
I tried,
And I failed,
So now,
I'm chained to this wall,
There is no escape,
Years may come,
Before I'm ever found,
I want to give up hope,
But that's not the kind of person I am,
I feel the pain,
And the heat,
From all over my body,
Then the door slides open,
And light floods the room,
I feel scared,
I know what's coming,
Because I'm watching it,
From above,
He's so blinded,
By his own rage,
And lust,
That he doesn't realize,
I'll never leave,
At least not in terms of my body,
Because I'm dead,
He broke my neck,
Shortly after I got here,
It happened when he hit me once,
And there was nothing I could do,
Now I'm trapped here,
Only hoping that one day someone may find the body,
Because that's my only hope for escape,
Until then,
I'll continue to be subjected,
To the hell,
Of being in the presence,
Of a Satan in the flesh,

About The Piece

"Behind Closed Doors" is a something that came to me after watching the news as of late. My mind works in twisted ways but I think that this piece turned out okay, it's dark, evil, and shows that humanity is kind of fucked up. But that's kind of the point of my writing. I hope that you enjoy it.

Blank World

In The Demon's Head #113: Blank World

May 15, 2013

It's Wednesday, this means two things. One, we're half way through the week, which puts us closer to the weekend. Second, it's time for another piece. Now I'd like to say it again, today's piece is not linked with Monday's. Originally, it was an idea that I tossed around, but I changed my mind. It is something that I will revisit probably sooner rather than later, but I thought this week we'd work on some stand-alone art. Speaking of Art, take a look at today's picture:

Blank World
Every picture has a story,
Every story has a place,
And every place needs painted,
But it's not quite that simple,
I wanted to paint,
Those places,
But my world,
Wouldn't let me,
I picked up the brush,
And couldn't put it to paper,
Instead the canvas stayed white,
And my hand wouldn't move,
What I got instead,
Were nightmares,
Of those places,
Begging for escape,
Begging for a story,
And all I saw,
Was myself,
Crippled,
And unable to do my duty,
It began to eat at me,
They would pile up,
And whisper to me,
Every day,
Sometimes new,
A lot of the time old,
They were stories that wanted to be painted,
But I just couldn't,
After weeks of the badgering,
And pleading,
I've found myself here,
On top of this bridge,
They say that every artist,
Has his moment of insanity,
I think mine,
Started when the paint wouldn't spill,
And has led me here,
30 Feet above the water,
Now the voices,
Of those stories,
Are telling me to jump,
Into the water,
I feel compelled,
To do them this justice,
Or maybe it's myself the justice,
To take them with me,
If I can't put them down,
So maybe,
They can tell me their stories,
From the bottom of the lake,

About The Piece

"Blank World" is a piece that is kind of close to my heart. No, I don't have plans of jumping off of a bridge. But the voices that want out are there that's for sure. That's something that I find in my head pretty much every day. It's not something I would change though, I'm glad to have those voices along for the ride.

The View From The TreeHouse

In The Demon's Head #112: The View From The TreeHouse

May 13, 2013

Hey guys, It's Monday again. For most of us, that means back to work, back to school, and back to an everyday routine. However, I've got something to entertain you on this Monday, a new piece from my twisted brain. Now unlike the last two weeks, this week will not be a trilogy. I'm not burnt out on the idea. I do, however, want to continue to make pieces that can stand on their own. With that I'm going to introduce three new pieces this week starting today. Let's take a look at today's picture.

The View From The TreeHouse

Looking out,
I see the woods,
I see everything,
That could be,
From the outside in,
Mine,
I've always been a loner,
And I never understood people,
But the view from my TreeHouse,
Makes it all better,
No one knows how the TreeHouse got here,
But me,
It's huge,
But that's because he built it for me,
Only a few years ago,
I watched it go up overnight,
I couldn't believe it,
But I knew who did it,
At first Mom didn't want me to touch it,
But when I told her that Dad built it,
Her face,
And her will,
Broke down,
You see,
My dad isn't here,
Not anymore,
He went off to war,
To fight for freedom,
At least that's what they tell me in school,
But when he didn't come home,
I began to worry,
Finally one day,
Mom told me that dad wasn't coming home,
He had died,
Defending me,
That night I cried,
And then I felt an arm around me,
I looked up,
And saw my dad,
With his arms around me,
I didn't understand at first,
But I realized that he was there,
To watch over me,
Mom still cries on occasion,
When she thinks about him,
I've thought about telling her,
That he's always with her,
Because I see him,
But I don't think she'll believe me,
So until I see my dad again,
I'll stay in my TreeHouse,
Protected,
By a man,
Who died for us all,

About The Piece

When I originally set down to write this, I expected some kind of dark feel. But I thought I'd throw a curve ball and write something that was heartfelt and different. Yeah, it has a paranormal style to it I suppose, but it works.

Awaiting At The Gates

In The Demon's Head #111: Awaiting At the Gates

May 10, 2013

HAPPY FRIDAY! See I started the week saying happy Monday, and I realized real quickly how much of a bullshit statement that was. However, happy Friday does the trick it seems. I hope that you have enjoyed the "Sands Of The Forgotten" trilogy. Today we wrap up that trilogy with the final piece this week. Before reading them though check out part 1 and part 2. Now let's take a look at the picture:

Awaiting At the Gates

I don't know what got into me,
I picked up the gun,
If that's what you could call it,
And I ran,
I don't know if I expected to fix things,
Or change anything,
But I stormed ahead anyway,
The machine locked,
And before I knew it,
It was over,
The world went black,
For a split second,
Then Another brilliant white light,
Flashed Into my vision
That same disembodied voice,
Began to talk,
"This is what's coming,
There's no stopping,
No halting,
No fixing,
They are coming,
And coming for you,
And your entire planet,
They will take no prisoners,
And You will never win,"
I stood stunned,
"How do you know this?"
I heard the clinks and the clanks,
As the machine rolled forward,
It looked half human,
Half Robot,
It's face twisted into an eerie smile,
"Because I plan your futures,
And I want your future,
To be non-existent,"
A laugh came from deep within the machine,
From inside my head,
My brain kicked in,
"Explain The Pyramid,"
I called,
"We built it years ago,
And hid it from your people,
Because We only wanted them to know of our coming,
When we finally did,
Now that you've been locked inside,
People will come looking,
And the news will spread,
Eventually everyone will be afraid,
Of what's to come,
And we will strike,
Without a Warning,
But don't fear,
It will come quick and painless,
Enjoy what's left of life,
Because Soon,
It will no longer be there,"
The light suddenly faded again,
And when I came to this time,
I could feel the Sun warming my face,
I heard footsteps,
And I opened my eyes,
I looked around and saw my crew,
And realized that I was under a tent,
"What happened?"
I asked,
My voice was faint,
And almost gone,
"You passed out,
Doc thinks it's from heat exhaustion,"
I nodded,
I tried to recall parts of the world,
That I had been in,
But they were fading,
I chalked it up,
To just oddity,
In my brain,
Then the ground began to rumble,
And I heard someone call out,
"My God,
The sand is flowing,"

About The Piece

"Awaiting At the Gate" closes out the "Sands Of The Forgotten" trilogy. While the ending that we have now wasn't quite the ending I had originally planned, neither was a better portion of the piece itself. I had pictured something a bit different in our futures but it didn't quite work out that way. Things like that though make it entertaining to be a writer, and hopefully entertain you as a reader.

Wars Across The Desert

In The Demon's Head #110: Wars Across the Desert

May 8, 2013

Happy Wednesday everyone, I want to take a second and say thanks to everyone who's been reading this blog, and to those who are now checking out the work on Wattpad. I'm truly humbled by what I've seen and I can't thank you enough. Now let's get onto picture number 2 this week. Note: Before you read today's piece, check out "Pyramids Through Time" that you can find here.

Wars Across The Desert

The door opened,
Blinding me with the light,
And a voice began to call to me,
"You've come,
Into a world,
Where war is the common place,
Everywhere you look,
You'll see the destruction,
Of those who are in charge,
They felt that this land,
Was theirs,
To ruin,
War is all they know,"
The land that stretched out in front of me,
It was desert for as far as I could see,
Gun shots rang out,
But I never heard,
Or saw any men,
I walked slowly,
And the sand crumbled under my feet,
As I topped the first hill,
I saw it,
The cause of all the destruction,
It was 20 feet tall,
Rolling,
And firing,
On anything that moved,
There were thousands of machines at it's feet,
They were attempting to fire on it,
And bring it down,
What was left in their wake,
Was mass destruction,
As I stared on what used to be a town,
Now left in ruins,
I couldn't believe what it was that I was seeing,
I slowly walked down the hill,
And it was here that I found my first real person,
Hunkered down,
And hiding,
"Hello."
I called to him,
He jumped,
And yelped,
But turned to look at me,
"Ye...Yes?"
He asked,
"What's going on here?"
I asked him.
"This is the Goliath War,
Do you know where you are?"
I shook my head,
"This is what used to be New York City,
Years ago.
"What happened to it?"
He looked around,
And then back to me,
"They came,
We weren't ready,
And they destroyed everything,"
I was looking at the direction he was pointing,
And I saw the machine on the other end,
"We fought back,
But it was useless,
They destroyed cities,
Countries,
And eventually were able to corrupt,
The earth's balance,
And now everything has turned to ash,
The oceans,
Are gone,
Cities,
Gone,
The world as a whole,
Is gone,
What's left are the few that were able to adapt,
And these,
These monsters,
That was almost 100 years ago,
We've managed to adapt even better,
And rebuild,
Slightly,
But that's still no match for these things,
We've attempted to do something,
But nothing seemed to work,"
I shifted my focus to the battlefield,
And in that moment,
Something came over me,
I picked up the abandoned gun by the man's side,
And I ran,
I ran as fast as I could toward the trouble,
I didn't know what I was doing,
Or why I was doing it,
But I ran,
I crossed the threshold of the battlefield,
And in that moment,
I realized that this situation,
Was all too real,

(To Be Continued...)

About The Piece

When I first pictured "War Of The Desert" I wasn't sure how I could fit it into what I was going to do and where I was going to go. The first piece to the puzzle set up a unique chance to go anywhere I wanted but with the picture I thought that this direction was the best. Be sure to check back Friday for the final piece to this week's trilogy.
